Feeling tired of my hectic life in the city center, I would like to share with you my five-day work vacation experience at vacancies.izukogen.

A different world from the moment you arrive

izukogen arrived after a two-hour drive from Tokyo. As soon as I opened the door, the spectacular view of the Izu Islands spread out before me took my breath away. I felt my concentration on my work already rising as I thought, "This is going to be my daily view.

Start the day with a morning open-air bath

Every morning I wake up at 6:00 a.m. and go first to the outdoor bath. Bathing while gazing at the sea dyed by the morning sun is a luxury you can never experience in urban areas. The effects of the hot spring also
refresh my body and mind from the start of the day. This time greatly affected my productivity for the day.

Focused work environment

The large window in the living room provided a magical space where I could always see the ocean and yet concentrate on my work, and the Wi-Fi environment was stable, making online meetings stress-free. When I told my colleagues that I was coming from Izu today, they were envious.

Evening BBQ time is exceptional!

After work, it was BBQ time on the terrace. The luxury of eating fresh seafood procured locally while enjoying the view of the ocean was exceptional. It is a completely different dining experience from eating out in the city, and a truly relaxing time to enjoy a meal.

At night, starry skies and movies

We enjoyed movies on the projector and star gazing through the skylight. Evening time was also special. I usually work until late at night, but here I naturally found a rhythm of early rest.

Changes felt in 5 days

I usually live in an apartment in the city and was unable to make enough time for my golden retriever "Hana" to get enough exercise. That's when I found Vacances.izukogen, where I stayed for 7 days with my pet.

This is also Hana's first time at a hot spring resort.

Upon arrival, Hana was very excited to see the spacious terrace and spectacular view! Her tail could not stop wagging with a sense of openness that she could not experience in urban areas. With a full range of amenities for pets, we felt "safe here.

Great morning walk course.

Nearby is the Jōgasaki Coastal Walkway, and every morning Hana and I enjoyed a walk in Izu Kōgen together. It was a great time for both Hana and me to take a walk in dynamic nature, completely different from our usual walks in residential areas.

Private space for peace of mind

Since the space is completely private, limited to one pair per day, there is no need to worry about disturbing other guests even if Hannah gets excited and makes a bit of a fuss. This was a really appreciated point for the owners.

Hot springs are a privilege only for owners.

Although Hana is not allowed in the hot spring, we were able to watch her spending her free time on the terrace while we relaxed in the outdoor bath. Such a sense of security is very important when traveling with pets.

BBQ with local ingredients

Hana joined in the BBQ on the terrace (with dog treats, of course). The meal time enjoyed by the whole family was a precious experience that we cannot create in our busy daily lives.

A New Way to Travel with Pets

My experience at VACANCES.izukogen changed my concept of traveling with pets. Next time, I would like to invite other dog-loving friends and we would all like to repeat this experience.

I am a freelance illustrator and spent a 10-day creative intensive period at vacancies.izukogen to get out of a slump.

Inspiration-rich environment

In the morning I spend meditative time in the open-air bath, and during the day I work on my creation while admiring the spectacular view. In the evening, I take a walk to get inspiration, and at night I concentrate on my work in the silence. This ideal cycle has brought about a significant change in my creative activities.

Color changes in the work

When I was working in urban areas, I inevitably used many inorganic colors such as gray and brown. However, as I gazed at the sea and sky of Izu Kogen every day, vivid colors such as blue, green, and orange naturally appeared in my work.

Production in a completely private space

Concentration is the most important aspect of creative work, and at VACANCES. I could work at my own pace, late at night or early in the morning, without worrying about other customers. This environment was the catalyst for me to create a group of works that I am very satisfied with.
